Some Remain Bring Alternative Nineties Vibes in Latest Track

Alternative punks Some Remain have returned with a new single that is in equal parts gritty and well-executed. 'Feel Low' was released in preparation for their upcoming five-track EP and joins a short yet impressive back catalogue of singles.

The band has established its sound as a display of varied influences from authentic punk power to the playfulness of noughties chart pop. The group, who hail from the West Coast of Ireland, is a four-piece with plenty to offer listeners.

As the first verse comes in, there are elements of the nineties alternative rock scene present. The likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Smashing Pumpkins come to mind when considering the moody vocals paired with a distinct yet soft guitar riff. The drumming comes into its own during the chorus, providing a full soundscape that feels large in proportion in comparison to the stripped-back verses. The juxtaposition of these sounds combines nicely through a consistent bassline from Leo and emotion-driven vocals that Jamie has mastered. As the track reaches its ending, the whirlwind of sound is expertly mixed and throws the tone down a more psychedelic route.

The track is the second release from the upcoming EP under the same name, which is expected on 19 July, both digitally and on vinyl. Another single for the EP was previously released, titled 'Death Defying Stunts', which differs in style and tempo yet maintains the same promise of quality that the title track delivers. The indie ethos of the group is felt throughout all of their previous releases, dating back to 2021. As the band looks toward their EP release, there's no doubt that they have a unique amalgamation of iconic sounds that combine to be distinctly their own.
