Female Artists You Don’t Want To Miss At We Love Green 2025

As the world tilts toward summer, France's eco-conscious music festival We Love Green, celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, returns to Paris, with a lineup as rich in sound as it is in purpose. Known for its genre-fluid programming and commitment to sustainability, the festival has always been a melting pot of musical brilliance. But this year, it’s the women who are commanding the stage with unapologetic power, range, and reinvention.

The Centre National de la Musique, which studies the role of women in the music industry, reports that only 29% of women will be performing at festivals in 2025. However, this year, 44 artists are set to play at We Love Green, and half of them are female artists.

From global icons redefining pop to homegrown talents reshaping the French music scene, here are six women you need to see from 6 to 8 June, at Bois de Vincennes

Charli XCX – The Main Pop Girl Energy We Need

Because ‘BRAT’ summer never ends, the always two steps ahead of the mainstream Charli XCX isn’t just playing the pop game—she’s rewriting it. Her sound teeters between club euphoria and cyberpunk chaos, and her presence on the We Love Green stage is set to be a high-octane, sweat-soaked celebration of femininity, freedom, and filthy beats.

We Love Green is the only French festival that Charli XCX will play this year, and she chose the best one to fit her green 'BRAT' aesthetic. Whether she’s yelling into a mic over a Sophie-produced drop or tearing up the stage with glitchy visuals, Charli brings the future to the now—and we’re just lucky to witness it.

FKA Twigs – The Avant-Garde Visionary

FKA Twigs doesn’t just perform—she transforms. Melding dance, opera, experimental electronics, and spiritual imagery, her shows are visceral, boundary-defying rituals. Whether swinging from the rafters or performing still as a statue, the British polymath bends her voice and body into impossible shapes.

Her latest album, ‘Eusexua’, released in January 2025, explores themes of healing and liberation, inspired by her experiences in Prague’s rave scene while filming ‘The Crow’

Twigs’ ‘Eusexua Tour’, which began in Paris last March, showcases her dynamic performances that intertwine music, dance, and visual art. With whispers of new music and a legacy of genre-blending brilliance behind her, FKA Twigs’ set at We Love Green promises a surreal, otherworldly experience like no other.

Yseult – The Independent Powerhouse

Yseult doesn’t whisper, she roars—emotionally, visually, vocally. The Franco-Cameroonian singer has carved out a space in the French music scene that's hers alone: bold, cinematic, deeply vulnerable. With her signature blend of chanson française, soul, and alternative pop, Yseult turns pain into poetry and vulnerability into defiance.

After gaining fame as a finalist on Nouvelle Star in 2014, she chose independence over traditional labels, founding her own label, YYY. Her 2024 album, ‘Mental’, delves into seven psychological states, offering a raw and honest exploration of mental health. Her performance promises to be more than a concert—it’s a journey, soundtracked by an artist who knows exactly who she is and isn’t afraid to take up space.

Clara Luciani – Retro Cool With A Sharp Edge

With her deep, smoky vocals and penchant for disco-infused elegance, Clara Luciani is France’s reigning queen of cool. She evokes a sense of nostalgia while staying entirely modern, channeling the spirits of Nico and Françoise Hardy with a feminist twist.

Her third album, ‘Mon sang, released in November 2024, delves into themes of family, motherhood, and mental health, reflecting her experiences during and after her pregnancy.

Tracks like ‘La Grenade’ remain anthems of empowerment, but it’s her recent work that has expanded her sound into something funkier, freer, and even more magnetic. On stage, she’s a magnetic force—stylish, composed, and sharply self-aware.

Maureen – The Caribbean Soul Of French Pop

Rising from Martinique with a voice like velvet and a presence that commands attention, Maureen brings Caribbean rhythms into the French pop consciousness. With tracks that glide between dancehall, zouk, and trap-infused R&B, she’s representing a new wave of artists who refuse to be boxed in.

Her performance at We Love Green is bound to be a sun-drenched, rhythm-driven set that’ll have the crowd moving with purpose and pride. For Maureen, music is heritage—and she wears it like armor.

Theodora – Boss Lady Of The Year

Also known as ‘Boss Lady’, the Franco-Congolese singer and rapper burst onto the French music scene in 2024 with her viral hit ‘KONGOLESE SOUS BBL’, recently approved by Doechii. This track, blending Antillean bouyon rhythms with sharp social commentary, became the first bouyon single by a non-Antillean artist to be certified gold in France.

Her debut mixtape, ‘Bad Boy Lovestory’, released in 2024, showcases her eclectic style and addresses themes such as Black femininity, mental health, and personal trauma. With her assertive lyrics and hyper-feminine aesthetic, Theodora challenges societal norms and redefines what it means to be a pop artist in France today.

At We Love Green 2025, Theodora is poised to deliver a performance that embodies her dynamic persona and genre-blending sound. Her presence on the lineup underscores the festival’s commitment to showcasing innovative and boundary-pushing artists.

Programming female artists is always a reminder that women in music are not a genre, but a universe. These artists span continents, sounds, and stages of their careers, but each pushes against the limitations placed on women in the industry — loudly, stylishly, and on their own terms.

If you’re heading to We Love Green this year, don’t just dance. Witness. Feel. Support. And let the artists set the tone of the summer.
