Bruce Springsteen Shares New Single ‘Faithless’ From Unmade Western Soundtrack

'Faithless’ was originally written in 2005 as the titular song of a soundtrack for a “spiritual Western” film. The filmmaker, who is still unknown, approached Bruce Springsteen to create the soundtrack, resulting in tracks that never made it out of the vault. Overall, the soundtrack was written across two weeks in Florida, resulting in a unique collection of songs.

Now, this single serves as a sneak peek into Springsteen’s upcoming album ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’, set to be released on 27 June 2025. In the past few weeks, Springsteen has also shared two other singles from the upcoming album. The first, ‘Rain In The River’, comes from his late 1990s/early 2000s project ‘Perfect World’, with the second, ‘Blind Spot’, from his 1994 album, now titled ‘Streets of Philadelphia Sessions’.

These discs feature songs recorded between 1983 and 2018 and are due to include 82 songs across seven discs. One of its discs is due to be the full soundtrack to this unreleased film, featuring eleven songs, four of which are instrumentals. For most of the record, Springsteen works solo. But, in some other tracks, Ron Aniello worked as the producer, with some touring members of the E Street Band – Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Curtis King Jr., Michelle Moore and Ada Dyer – contributing alongside his wife, Patti Scialfa, and sons, Evan and Sam Springsteen.

Featuring an atmospheric sound and hauntingly beautiful backing vocals, ‘Faithless’ had the potential to serve as a fitting introduction or theme to this spiritual Western project. Springsteen’s voice leans into the country sound well, with a result sounding close to a Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan mix.

Springsteen is also set to begin a world tour this year, starting with Manchester, UK on 14 May 2025. ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ is available to preorder here.
