Band of horses release stellar new single, ‘In Need of Repair’

Following the release of their single ‘Crutch’ in the Autumn, the iconic Band of Horses have struck gold twice with their latest track, ‘In Need of Repair’.

Formed in 2004 in Seattle, Washington, Band of Horses have released five albums to date, including the Grammy-Nominated ‘Infinite Arms’. Known for their slow and emotive sounds, this indie-rock outfit is currently signed to Interscope Records.

Their newest cut kicks off with a slow, slightly psychedelic guitar riff, which offers itself as the core of the song, repeating throughout the whole track. This riff marks the first appearance for guitarist Ian Mcdougall, who will appear on their upcoming sixth studio album ‘Things are Great’, which is slated for release in early 2022.

Along with the anchoring guitar, a steady drum beat guides the song, and adds some stability to the dreamy lead vocals.

Lyrically deep and emotive ‘In need of repair’ describes how external factors can affect anxiety and how sometimes it can snowball.

The lines “You’re dealing with a dilemma / And running out of air / But holding it all together / With a piece of tape in need of repair” describe this best, how one can be so close to giving up, but managing to just about keep it together.

This kind of emotional vulnerability is a refreshing change of pace, and would be an interesting and welcomed theme on their upcoming album.

This latest single is dreamy in sound and deep in its lyrical content. It is a real showcase as to why Band of Horses have such a devoted and diverse fan base.
