In preparation for their upcoming album, Bloc Party have released 'Now We Can't Be Friends' - the third single from their collection of songs about heartbreak and moving on. The lyrics tell a personal story of an argument in their relationship; for example, they state that “you played a trick on me / with words that were not honest”. The theme and lyrics make it relatable to many listeners, allowing people to connect with it without making it overly complicated.

Although the song has a focus on the end of a relationship, its steady beat and sound make it surprisingly danceable and ready for listeners' European summer. The chorus is catchy and will definitely be stuck in everyone’s head while the weather stays warm. 

The track has a classic Bloc Party sound with the guitar playing, emotional vocals and rhythm. Alongside the release of this single, the band have announced an intimate record store tour beginning on the 9th September, where they will be showcasing this classic sound, while simultaneously promoting their new album.

‘Now We Can’t Be Friends’ is a memorable song that balances emotional value with a catchy tune, with simple yet relatable lyrics that draw listeners in just in time for the next release. They are definitely a band to keep an eye on.
